There is no crisis!!!
Some thoughts:
1) Making the Bush tax cuts for the elite permanent will cost three to five times more than any shortfall in the Social Security program.
2) If the Republicans are serious about not cutting benefits to seniors, why don’t they propose a voting supermajority requirement to cut benefits?

Core to the argument of the right wing Social Security privatizers is that the Social Security trust fund doesn’t actually exist (Link: http://www.thereisnocrisis.com/node/2469). They say that the bonds collecting in the trust fund are meaningless, and when we must cash them in 2019, we will have a ‘crisis’.
In other words, they don’t believe that a bond is an obligation that the American government intends to make due on. They imply that we should simply default on our debt.
Through the revolution, two world wars, a depression, a Civil War, and undue historical hardships, we have always managed to make due on our bonds. Do the Republicans in charge have so little faith in their own leadership abilities that they believe the credit of the US is now worthless? I guess so.
