Fiction
These first three stories were written for WriteFight.org. “Bird on a Wire” & “Death Comes with Jeff” both won their respective fights. All of them could definitely use another draft, but until I get around to that, they are here for, hopefully, your enjoyment.
Last year, Big Finish held a short story contest for their Doctor Who story collection. The central idea of the story was how meeting the Doctor might effect a character and the word count was a firm 2000. The first draft of “Ocean of Stars” was almost 4000 words and it was mighty tough to distill it down to the present draft. Unfortunately, I didn’t win. I think because it’s a darker story than Big Finish usually does, influenced as I was by the “New Adventures” series of novels that came out in the 90s and were, on the whole, much darker and more violent than any other Doctor Who franchise. I think the longer story would have been better, but I have a real soft spot for this story.
Voudo - This story came about after a breakup and when I found myself researching how to cast a “love spell” to get someone to come back to you. I realized how pathetic the idea was, so I wrote a story about it instead of doing it.
