Sunday Sessions - Song 2
August 6th, 2006Dedicated to last week’s heat wave and to honor Jo Cose’s request:
Recording Session: Aug 6, 2006 / 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Song: “Hot Summer Day,” written sometime 1998
Lyrics:
it’s like the motion of light in water
it’s like the taste of rainbows
it’s like the smell of clover
on a hot summer day
it’s like the feel of silk pajamas
it’s like the sound of snow falling
it’s like the memories of christmas
on a hot summer day.clouds are falling
lightning breaks
the air is bruised
and no rain falls, no no no no rain fallsand it’s just like the time you said
that you loved me and would I share your bed
and it’s just like that awful night
all night I held you and all night you criedit’s like the sleep of reason
it’s like the terror tightening your heart
it’s like suffocating beneath the sun
on a hot summer day
it’s like everything that’s good
it’s like everything that’s scary
it’s like shivering alone in the woods
on a hot summer dayclouds are falling
lightning breaks
the air is bruised
and no rain falls, no no no no rain fallsit’s like the destiny of death
it’s like dawn rising glorious
it’s like angel’s wing and angel’s breath
on a hot summer day
it’s the one thing that’s real to me
it’s the fallen star at my feet
it’s the thing that I most need
on a hot summer dayclouds are falling
lightning breaks
the air is bruised
but no rain falls, no no no no rain falls.
I have also remixed “Nametag” for those who didn’t like the distortion on the chorus sections.

thanks dude, you’re awesome. This is definitely a different version than the one you tried to teach me years ago, but I really like this one aslo. It also seems that there is an extra verse?? Whatever, I did it.
OK, here’s another request. I can’t remember anything about it, but i think it was about a girl…maybe an ex…and it was a slow, sad song. Damn, I just can’t remember…it feels like it was a million years ago when we would hang out on your porch and talk about music and screenplays.

BTW, the remix is spot-on…The distortion works well now. It sounds like you removed it from the vocals and left it on the guitar.
Hey, I just thought of a challenge if you ever get bored with your Sunday Sessions…We, your fans, submit either lyrics or topics, and you have a week to write the song…just a thought.
